I know I just posted about Doctor Who, but with all the information about the new season that’s been released lately, I feel like I should talk about it.
First of all, I’m excited to see what the Twelfth Doctor will do and how his personality will play out. I’ve heard he’s going to be a “serious” Doctor. I’m wondering if this is Ninth Doctor serious or Valeyard serious. But it’s Doctor Who. There’s bound to be some whimsicalness. However, how Clara would interact with a serious Doctor is interesting to think about.
While we’re on the subject, what is this going to do to Clara and the Doctor’s personal relationship? We know she had feelings for Matt Smith’s youthful, nonsensical Doctor, but now that he’s Peter Capaldi, the Whoufflé fans may have to suffer a loss. I predict that like Billie Piper, Jenna Louise-Coleman will stay for one more season, then exit the show. Too bad. Clara was a cool companion.
Which brings us to the new companion, Danny Pink, played by Samuel Anderson. Maybe he’ll be a Mickey Smith-type character. (Not because he’s black!) Also returning is the Paternoster Gang, Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Commander Strax, and it’s been hinted that the Master may return as well! It was only a matter of time, now that Gallifrey has been saved. It makes me wonder what other Time Lords will make an appearance in the future.
Steven Moffat is still writing some episodes, though he may be getting ready to step down as head writer. No word about Mark Gatiss just yet. As directing goes, Ben Wheatley is covering the first episode of season eight, and it’s been rumored that Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, may be stepping in! How cool will that be?
Also, Moffat and Russell T. Davies apparently have a scheme cooked up to explain Capaldi’s previous appearances in the Whoniverse (Caecilius in Doctor Who season 4 episode “The Fires of Pompeii”, and as John Frobisher in Torchwood.) Off topic, sort of, but who else likes to think that Capaldi in “The Fires Of Pompeii” was really Twelve messing with Ten’s head?! XD
Well, here’s to a new Doctor, new faces, new stories, and a whole new season of Doctor Who!
